Writing essay contests for high school students

I am only at Tip #2 and can already feel my “inner writer” coming back to life. I’ve been torturing myself for so long — many new ideas and perspectives to share and nothing but dread at the thought of the actual writing. I was always such a “good student”, and by the time I finished grad school I no longer enjoyed either reading or writing. Pretty sad statement, even sadder that the ill effects have lasted three decades.
The only writing advice I’ve read so far basically boils down to: it’s work, you just have to do it, set aside a specific time and force yourself…. all about as appealing as my mother’s shoe leather lamb chops. I can’t thank you enough for your approach. I think it’s going to work for me, and just know I am immensely grateful beyond what words can express. Yes!

Both competitions are open to all students in grades 9-12 attending UIL member high schools. All entries submitted according to contest guidelines will be evaluated by experienced judges. State finalists will be selected from the entries submitted for each competition. Students selected as state finalists will be considered for state awards and have the opportunity to have their work added to the historical record of the state of Texas. All students selected as state finalists will also become eligible to apply for TILF scholarships; the TILF program provides dozens of scholarship opportunities each year.

The Essay Writing Contest is open from 09 August 2017 to 11:59 PM, 30 November 2017, PDT.
The top three winners will be announced on 15 December, 2017.
Surprise Bonus Opportunity
One winner will be chosen every week as a Surprise Winner and they will get a consolation prize.
You can send as many entries as you like. With a winner declared every week, you have more
opportunities to win. The weekly winners will be eligible for the bumper (first three) prizes too.
The winning entries will be published on our blog http:///blog. Winners will
also be contacted through a personal email or phone to get their Paypal or Bank Account details
to remit the prize money.
We might also publish a few other well written essays as a recognition of your hard work. We
permit “sharing” of the essays, once they are published, through social media and show your
friends your accomplishment. It is indeed commendable to have your essays chosen by our
native best writers to be showcased on our website. If you have an objection to your essay being
published, you are free to contact us, give the link of your published essay and request for
removal within 4 days of the essay being published.

Hello Chris. Well it's mostly from what I've seen from their facebook page. They announced a very truncated time - roughly 6 days - until winners would be notified of their status, however, there hasn't even been any emails of declination. My nephew who entered the competition told me there were no confirmation emails; no social media status updates and basically no aid from their 24/7 help desk. Looking at your description of their competition, it seems like they've done this more than once (since you wrote they hold it biannually in their description).
